My name is Yolanda de Kleijn (1972), born and raised on the beautiful island of Texel in the north of Holland. I moved to Haarlem when I started my vocational eduction as Maternity Nurse and still enjoy living and working in this lovely city to date.
Since my studies, I have become a nursing professional with now over 20 years of experience in maternity care. I have enjoyed providing care to expectant mothers before, during and after childbirth, and consulting a large variety of families after the arrival of their newborn.
I work in Haarlem and surrounding area and I am affiliated with the Kenniscentrum Kraamzorg (KCKZ - Maternity Care Knowledge Center). I receive annual updates and further training on a broad level, including breastfeeding, bottle feeding, resuscitation, First Aid and emergengy obstetrics.
About Mom-to-be coaching
About two years ago I got to know an expat family living in Haarlem. The mother shared that she had missed the necessary practical information and assistance during her pregnancy. Not the medical information she would get from the obstetrician or gynecologist, but essential information that an expectant mother needs to know to prepare for the birth of her child.
I went to investigate this and learned that multiple families would definitely have profited from professional advice at home in the lead up to the birth, if this would have been available to them. As an experienced professional and dedicated nurse, I felt it was my time to fill this gap. Hence Mom-to-be coaching.
I look forward to answering all of your questions and concerns, and taking away any insecurities you might have before the birth of your child.
What is Mom-to-be and how can I be of service to you, and possibly your partner?
After we have made the appointment I come to your home. In this appointment of about 1,5 hours, I will answer all of your questions and give you advice on everything you need to know and need to have.
This advice would include, amongst others:
- How does it work in The Netherlands? What kind of care are you entitled to and to what extent?
- What requirements must a baby trousseau meet, what items are essential during and after pregnancy?
- What does a maternity nurse do during a home birth?
- What can you expect from a maternity nurse?
- How can you prepare for the postpartum period?
- How to choose for breastfeeding or bottle feeding?
- What do you do if you are sent home in the middle of the night after giving birth in the hospital?
- What to expect during the delivery and the postpartum period as a partner?
- How do you prepare other children in the family for the arrival of the brother or sister?
- Which courses would be valuable for you to take?
Especially when you are expecting your first child, you will have plenty of questions and insecurities. I will answer all your questions, even - or especially - those that you do not dare to ask anyone else.
Notice; I don't give any medical advice.
I look forward to taking away all of your doubts and concerns so that you will be knowledgeable, confident and well prepared for this special moment in your life, and all pieces of the puzzle will come together.
